Sonoma State University The Sonoma State University (SSU) is an educational institution that promises an education that promotes cognitive, social and personal growth. The school’s faculty and staff commit themselves into guiding the students and educate them in terms of civil engagement, ethical exploration, social responsibility and global awareness. This is for the reason that SSU believes that awareness and responsibility backed with a strong foundation in academic discipline will lead to the student’s success and achievement of their goals. Apart from mentoring students about ethical and critical thinking, the university also ensures that the students are well equipped before they graduate. This means that they also train students into using information technology well and putting their knowledge into good use. For the university, all these are necessary steps to prepare their students from the challenges brought about by the 21st century workplace. New students have the option to choose from six schools. They may take courses from any school they prefer which is as follows: Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Education, Extended Education, Business and Economics and Arts and Humanities. At the bachelor’s level, the university offers 45 majors and 48 minors. The master’s level on the other hand offers 15 minors. In addition to this, the University share joint master’s degree in mathematics with the San Francisco State University and a doctorate degree in education administration with the Sacramento, California State University, University of California, Davis. The University also offers eight undergraduate and graduate programs and nine credential programs. Apart from these, the university also offers thirteen sports – eight for women and five for men. These are all sponsored by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. In terms of accreditation, the University is accredited by the California State Board of Education and Western Association of Schools and Colleges. In addition o that, each school in the University is also accredited individually. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accredited the University’s School of Business. Also, the national and state level of NCATE and CCTC accredited the School of Education. Apart from the degrees and sports offered and the accreditations, the University also has an active Alumni Association that assists the school in their projects, activities and programs. All these are the things that make this University with about 7, 700 students. Given that most of its students are from outside of the North Bay Region, the University ensures that they have the necessary facilities and that the environment is conducive for learning. It is also a fact that they keep the school’s atmosphere safe, friendly and informal to better engage the students. -- > sonoma pest control > San Francisco Info > Napa Info |
